District Director/President's Bio

Bro. Raymond Hawkins Jr. prides himself on being a Brother born and raised in our nation’s capital, Washington, D.C. After graduating from Eleanor Roosevelt High School, he completed his B.S. in Financial Economics with a minor in Public Administration at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC), an honors university in Maryland. Shortly thereafter, he earned his M.B.A. from the University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) and then earned a professional certification in Project Management from Duke University.

His professional career spans over 13 years of public service in the Federal government. Throughout this tenure he has worked in administrative and business management through activities such as federal acquisitions, risk management, change management, human capital, financial management, strategic planning and IT. He has received awards for his service and earned several top-ranking certifications as a federal certified program/project manager (FAC-PPM Level III), Contracting Officer Representative (FAC-COR Level III) and financial manager (CGFM-candidate).

On November 12, 2001 he was initiated into the fraternity through the Nu Kappa Chapter at UMBC and has held several leadership positions from the chapter level to the General Organization since his time as a neophyte until now. He currently serves under the Kappa Epsilon Lambda Chapter in Landover, MD.

Aside from work, Brother Hawkins is the Vice President of Game Plan, Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in Bowie, MD which aims to assist student athletes with success outside of their respective sport through project management, leadership training, academic services, career exploration and entrepreneurship.

 

When he's not working or serving the community through Alpha Phi Alpha and Game Plan Inc., Brother Hawkins enjoys spending time with his wife Courtney and their three children, Madison, Tristan and Peyton. Together, they enjoy travelling, cooking, reading, music and family game night.
